HOW TO #1. Contouring Nose with MAC SOBA

MAC Soba is all around becoming my favorite everyday, must-have eyeshadow shade. It is simply beautiful on its own, blended out all over the eye. Pop a mascara, and you are good to go.

The reason why this shade is so perfect is because it “deepens” the eyes with the perfect brown shade. Not too orange, not too red, not too yellow. It just gives a natural “shadow” to the face. It has a bit of pearl(?) in it, but it is nothing too obvious.

And recently, I have been using this eyeshadow to contour the nose and the eye area. I have found that it made such a big difference to my first shape, and MAC Soba is just the perfect contour shade. I used to use bronzers that I used on my cheeks to do it, but I always found it looked so unnatural.

So today, I’m going to give you a tip on how to get that nice contouring of the nose using MAC Soba and MAC 217 brush. You can use any small brush that is fluffy. I recommend using a small fluffy brush as opposed to a big one (the one you would use on your cheeks) or a small and dense one.

Dap a small amount of product on the brush. Bring it down the side of your nose. Depending on the shape of your nose and how thin you want it, shade in the side first lightly, and a bit more where you think you need it. You want to shade it slightly more on the side of your nose near the end, near your nostrils.

Also, you want to also shade where your nose bridge meets your eyebrows. Contour under the eyebrows to give you that depth of your eyes. It’s the area that my brush is pointing to in the picture above.

You can see the shadows and depths on this model’s face. Although a lot may be natural, contouring emphasizes that natural lights and shadows so that it becomes more visible. I personally love doing it and I think it brings more definition to the face.

Here is a haul of my recent beauty purchases! I know it looks like I’ve hoarded an unnecessary amount, but I had two gift cards with me and I’m not going to lie. I do have an obsession with makeup. So, where would I spend that gift card than on spending it on the few products I’ve been eyeing! Also, Sephora has started their VIB 15% sale. That gave me reason to stock up on “essentials”– foundation, primer, and contour powder. With the VIB card, you also get a plastic bag of samples and a free tote bag!

    Exposed⎪Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush

The great thing about the blog community is that you get to know things you wouldn’t have known or discovered on your own. Sometimes I fall into a set pattern and use only what I use. I’m kind of wary on hypes because it may just be a hype. But recently, I’ve found a few bloggers whom I consider my beauty bibles– and they’ve mentioned on several notes, the brand Tarte.

I’ve got to say, never thought of trying their products until these respectable wonderful bloggers mentioned them! The two recommended blushes from Tarte were “Exposed” and “Tipsy”. “Tipsy” is an orange-coral blush and since I am already satisfied with Benefit “Coralista” I thought I’d give “Exposed” a try.

It’s a beige with a pink base. When I read the reviews, I read that the blush just gave the most natural yet defined look on the face. On days you’re looking for a natural defined look but nothing too heavy, you can go for this.

I bought it a few days ago and I haven’t stopped wearing it since! It really is a natural sheer yet buildable blush color. It almost acts as a contouring blush so it does the duo effect. It looks a bit darker and mauve-pink in real life, but when you take a brush and sweep it on your face, you see that the beige works really well with all skin tones. I think the blush is on the very sheer side so it can work really well with pale skin. Because I am pretty tan, I find myself building it around my cheekbones about three times.

The effects are really nice! It narrows your face, defines your contours, gives a slight natural flush, and doesn’t make you look “too heavy”. I love it indeed! It’s completely matte and I think that’s what gives a more natural look.

It’s a good price of $24. The packaging doesn’t look like much I have to say but the content is quite lovely. I’ve heard many a good things when I had this blush on so yay for that! 🙂
